Kristin Feola, the author of the Ultimate Daniel Fast describes the fast as, “an opportunity for you to draw closer to God through fervent, focused prayer.” This fast is a partial fast that restricts commonly enjoyed foods as an act of worship to the Lord. So say goodbye to the sodas and chocolate covered anything.
The Daniel Fast was first observed by the prophet Daniel in the Bible. Daniel had great concern for his people and during a time of prayer and fasting he asked the Lord for help. Daniel 10:2-3 “At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food: no meant or wine touched my lips.” You read that right, there is to be no drinking of wine. Later it goes on to talk about how he ate only plain and simple foods. Daniel’s passion for the Lord caused him to seek spiritual food rather than physical. This is the desire for the fast.
Throughout this event I suggest visiting https://ultimatedanielfast.com/ultimate-daniel-fast-about-the-daniel-fast/ or picking up a copy of The Ultimate Daniel Fast. This is Kristin Feola’s website and there are recipes, questions, motivational stories, and the ability to reach out to others going through the fast as well. I will update on here one to two times a week to keep the motivation and give insight on how the fast is going from my end. I suggest reaching out to your fellow peers who are taking this journey with you when you are in times of trouble. Don’t give up! We can get through this fast together.
